GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – More than 50 exhibitors from various service organizations came to the Vidant Medical Center Campus for its 7th Annual Mental Health Expo.
The goal of the expo is to raise awareness about mental health and combat the stigma that’s associated with it.
There were several resources at the expo including Vidant’s mental health clinic’s inpatient and outpatient services. Those who attended were able to see some of the resources that were available to them locally and regionally.
Nathan Harper with Vidant said, “That’s why we would put on things like this so that we can show patients and people and family members that there’s actually a lot more resources out there than you might imagine.”
The expo also offered presentations about emotional healing, stress, and addiction as well as how to identify common symptoms of mental illness.
Doctors say, some early warnings to look for with mental illness include withdrawing from people and activities, a change in sleeping and eating and a general lack of interest.
